New Bundle: Introduction to PBS in Australia

Build your foundation in Positive Behaviour Support — from understanding disability to promoting rights, safety, inclusion, and the elimination of restrictive practices.

A Complete Introduction in One Bundle

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new PBS Essentials Series BUNDLE: Introduction to PBS in Australia — an accessible, practical bundle designed for practitioners who want to strengthen their understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) within the Australian context.

Built Around Rights, Safety and Inclusion
Contemporary PBS is about more than changing behaviour. It is about understanding people within their environments, improving quality of life, supporting participation and inclusion, and protecting fundamental rights.

Throughout the bundle, you’ll explore how professional practice can contribute to:
  • Human rights and dignity
  • Person-centred support
  • Safety and quality of life
  • Meaningful participation and inclusion
  • Evidence-informed decision-making
  • The reduction and elimination of restrictive practices
The result is a learning experience designed to help practitioners develop a stronger foundation for ethical, effective, and rights-based practice. Whether you are new to PBS or looking to consolidate your foundational knowledge, this bundle brings together three essential courses:
 2 HOURS
Introduction to Disabilities
Develop a comprehensive understanding of contemporary perspectives on disability, analyse strategies to address barriers, and advance inclusive practices grounded in human rights principles
Tracey Lawson
.
 3 HOURS
Introduction to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the history, foundations, and definition of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), as well as how the profession of a PBS practitioner is structured in different countries.
Helder Gusso & Trace Lawson
 3 HOURS
Restrictive Practices in PBS: Identification to Elimination
Learn how to protect the rights and safety of people with disability by eliminating the use of restrictive practices—or, when necessary, ensuring they are the least restrictive and used only as a last resort.
Michael Manning
.
The bundle is designed to provide a coherent learning pathway: beginning with foundational concepts about disability, moving into PBS, and then exploring one of the most important challenges in contemporary behaviour support — the identification and elimination of restrictive practices.
Learn at Your Own Pace
Flexible online learning designed around your schedule. All courses are 100% online and self-paced, giving you the flexibility to learn when and where it suits you.

Work through the course at your own pace, revisit important concepts whenever needed, and fit your learning around your professional and personal commitments.

With 8 hours of learning across three courses, the bundle provides a structured pathway from foundational concepts about disability through to Positive Behaviour Support and the identification and elimination of restrictive practices.
Immersive, Interactive and Practice-Focused Learning
Go beyond passive learning with engaging, interactive courses designed to connect theory with real-world practice. Explore authentic scenarios, practical examples, case-based activities, and interactive learning experiences that help you understand key concepts and apply them to situations you may encounter in professional practice.

Learn at your own pace while progressively building the knowledge, skills, and professional judgement needed to support people with disability effectively, ethically, and respectfully.
Practitioner Focused Design
Created by practitioners, for practitioners. Our courses are designed around the realities of professional practice. The courses focuses on the knowledge and skills practitioners need to understand disability, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), human rights, inclusion, and restrictive practices in contemporary practice settings.

Rather than focusing only on theoretical concepts, we connect foundational knowledge to practical decision-making and real-world contexts — helping you understand not only what to do, but how to do and why it matters.
Learn with Experts
Learn from professionals with expertise in disability, Positive Behaviour Support, behaviour analysis, and related fields. Our courses draw on contemporary research, professional practice, and internationally recognised principles to provide learning that is both accessible and relevant.

Whether you are new to PBS or looking to strengthen your existing knowledge, you’ll gain insights that can support more thoughtful, person-centred, and rights-based practice.
Test Your Knowledge and Earn a Certificate
Before starting each course, you’ll complete a knowledge assessment designed to establish a baseline of your current understanding. After completing the learning activities, you’ll take the same assessment again.

The pre- and post-course results are collected to evaluate the effectiveness of the course and measure learning outcomes.

You’ll also have opportunities to review the course content and retake assessments as needed, supporting a learning experience focused on development rather than simply passing a test.

Once you successfully complete the required assessments, you’ll receive a digital Certificate of Completion, recognising your completion of the course and the corresponding 8 learning hours.
