Understanding Disabilities and Building Inclusion

You will develop a comprehensive understanding of disabilities, including their historical context, the impact of language, the social model, neurodiversity, and strategies to reduce barriers and foster inclusivity.

Promoting Inclusive, Human Rights-based Practices

By the end of this course, you will be able to characterise the contemporary understanding of disability and the challenges to reduce barriers and promote inclusive, human rights-based practice.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Tracey Lawson, BCBA

Tracey Lawson brings an impressive background with over 30 years of specialised experience in the disability sector to her role as CEO of PBS Together. Her comprehensive education includes a Bachelor of Psychology, Graduate Diploma in Counselling, Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution, and master’s degrees in Behavioural Science, and Business Administration.

Tracey's strategic vision focuses on empowering practitioners with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to provide effective and ethical services to their participants and communities. Her professional journey is distinguished by a unique blend of clinical and organisational leadership experiences. With expertise in early childhood intervention, behavioural support for autistic children, and transformative executive leadership.

Tracey has a strong track record of developing solutions to close service gaps for vulnerable children and families, working with First Nation Communities on community-wide supports for mental health, and mechanisms for participants to have choice and control of their own lives. She is also an author, international speaker, and university lecturer, further highlighting her diverse contributions to the field.
