Practising What We Teach: Person-Centred, Evidence-based Training for PBS Practitioners

CEO - PBS Together

Most PBS training tells practitioners *what* to do. Very little of it actually teaches them *how* to do it — and even less of it checks whether they can.

That gap shows up everywhere: in service quality concerns across the sector, in the ongoing ambiguity around minimum standards for practitioners, and in the daily reality of trying to apply complex behavioural concepts in messy, real-world settings like SIL.

In this webinar, Helder Gusso (PhD) and Tracey Lawson (BCBA) will share what we've learned from building PBS Bootcamp — a programme designed from the ground up using behaviour-based educational principles. We'll walk through:

  • Why most professional development in PBS doesn't produce behaviour change in practitioners (and what does);
  • The eight-step framework we use to design training that actually transfers to practice;
  • Preliminary results from PBS Bootcamp;
  • What students tell us about applying what they've learned in their day-to-day work with participants.

If you train PBS practitioners, supervise them, or are one yourself and tired of training that doesn't stick — this hour is for you.
